The Global Impact Investing Rating System (GIIRS) has awarded New Resource Bank an overall five-star rating, the highest possible.
GIIRS is a comprehensive and transparent system for assessing the social and environmental impact of companies and funds. Its approach is analogous to Morningstar investment rankings and Capital IQ financial analytics.
The GIIRS team rates New Resource twice yearly. The bank’s current overall score is 150, compared with an average score of 88 for other GIIRS-rated institutions in our market category (developed; 218 companies).
New Resource received five-star ratings in three of four impact areas—governance, workers, and community—and a three-star rating in the fourth area, environment. The bank scored more than twice as many points as the overall market average for community impact and worker impact (compensation, benefits, training, ownership, and work environment) and nearly twice as many for governance impact (stakeholder engagement, governance structure, controls, and overall transparency). The environment impact score was less than two points higher than the overall market, in part because New Resource’s LEED Gold headquarters is leased, so we cannot earn points for its green construction and maintenance.
