New identity, website deliver clear picture of mission

New Resource has rolled out its new website, logo and Planet-Smart Banking™ tagline this past month—an extreme makeover that puts the bank’s commitment to sustainability front and center and more effectively promotes its products and services.

“We have a clear vision of who we are and what we provide,” says Vince Siciliano, New Resource president and CEO. “We have to express that vision and our mission, and convey what makes us different to people who don’t know about us. Who are we? What do we stand for? What are we trying to accomplish in terms of sustainable living? That isn’t communicated on our current website.”

The new website brings alive the tagline, Planet-Smart Banking, and visually conveys the bank’s sustainability mission. The design is bold and bright—not your typical bank. The content is bolder, too, putting customers front and center, with prominent photos on the homepage and profiles featured throughout the website. Information about products and services and the bank’s sustainability actions, environmental policy and partners is easy to find.

Perhaps the most important addition is the Planet-Smart Blog, which allows the bank to share news, customer stories and resources in a way that wasn’t possible before. And, as with most blogs, readers can comment and engage in dialogue.

“There’s a lot of passion for what we are doing to promote sustainable living, and what our customers are doing,” adds Bill Peterson, chief credit officer and chair of the marketing committee. “The new site communicates that and provides a strong sense of community.”

Logo points to the future

The new logo—two halves of a shifting ellipsis in blue and green—is open to interpretation. It was designed to convey a sense of energy and change, with a look ahead. It suggests the Earth, sun, and moon—and the infinity symbol as well—to represent the sustainability community.

“It focuses on the future,” says Siciliano. “Our mission is bigger than just providing green products and services. We want to change banking and promote sustainability in everything we do. We hope the website will help encourage people to join the bank’s network and learn more about the sustainability community.”
