We are honored to win an award for Community Partnership in Sustainability

New Resource Bank Award

New Resource Bank

It's been a week of celebration at New Resource Bank for our commitment to the community. In addition to being on the B Corps 2014 Best for Communities list, we won the San Francisco Business Times award for Community Partnership in Sustainability. The Community Partnership in Sustainability award goes to one company that has shown a commitment to sustainability above and beyond the average. We were so honored we were chosen to win!

In accepting this award, Vince Siciliano, CEO of New Resource, pulled a dollar bill out of his pocket and asked everyone in the audience a few provocative questions. If they think about eating organic food then why not bank with an organic bank. Money is more than just money, it’s a “store of values,” Vince stated.  He then pushed the audience one step further and asked, “Where does your money spend the night?” The audience chuckled. This was perhaps not a question they had considered before.

All of you who bank with us know where your money spends the night. You know we make loans only to companies that are sustainable within our five key sectors: organic foods & natural products, clean energy, green building, nonprofits and sustainably-managed businesses. You know that we would never support business whose practices lead to environmental or community degradation.

We thank you for your commitment to partnering with a bank that shares your values.
