The New Resource Bank Impact CD lets investors choose one of three key sustainability-related sectors to support with their deposits: solar and other alternative energy projects, organic products or nonprofit organizations. In the third quarter of 2014, solar and alternative energy lending remained the most popular choice, followed by lending to nonprofits and organic products companies.

On September 18, about 40 nonprofit leaders gathered together for a morning workshop hosted by New Resource Bank on “Fundraising Strategies for the Missing Middle.” The event was facilitated by Third Plateau Social Impact Strategies, a philanthropic advisory and nonprofit consulting firm.
Who is the missing middle? Traditionally, these are donors between $1,000 and $10,000. But they are more than that too--the missing middle wants to engage in nonprofits’ work beyond just contributions.

New Resource customers will soon be able to take advantage of Apple Pay, the mobile wallet embedded in the new iPhone 6 series unveiled September 9. Apple Pay will give bank customers with eligible debit and credit cards the ability to conduct mobile point-of-sale and e-commerce transactions with their iPhone 6 at more than 200,000 stores and in select iPhone apps.

It's been a week of celebration at New Resource Bank for our commitment to the community. In addition to being on the B Corps 2014 Best for Communities list, we won the San Francisco Business Times award for Community Partnership in Sustainability. The Community Partnership in Sustainability award goes to one company that has shown a commitment to sustainability above and beyond the average. We were so honored we were chosen to win!

Our second sustainability report, Banking for Good, chronicles progress toward our goals during 2013, with new impact metrics from the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV) and expanded coverage of our community, environment and governance activities. It is available here and in print by request.

New Resource Bank is proud to announce that we have become a signatory of the CDP. Formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project, this international nonprofit provides the only global system for companies and cities to measure, disclose, manage and share vital environmental information. The CDP works with market forces to motivate companies to disclose their impacts on the environment and natural resources and take action to reduce them.

When you work at a sustainable bank, what better annual event is there to celebrate than Earth Day?
We kicked off the event early by spending a day at Ocean Beach in San Francisco cleaning up trash. The beach looks clean at first glance, but we were all surprised by the amount of trash we found, especially small plastics. We had fun and even got our families involved.
